AIS309: The Era of the Cognitive Architect

November 3, 2026 10:30 am - 11:15 am

AI is accelerating the creation, distribution, and application of information. Organizations are now forced to rethink how expertise is developed and sustained. In this session, Alicia Sanchez explores how learning leaders must evolve beyond traditional instructional models and toward a new role: the Cognitive Architect. Rather than positioning AI simply as a productivity layer on top of existing systems, Alicia examines how organizations must redesign the structures that connect people, workflows, decision-making, and intelligent systems.
Blending learning science, systems thinking, and enterprise AI strategy, Alicia will explore how learning functions are shifting from content-centered operations toward broader responsibility for capability, orchestration, and organizational intelligence. Participants will examine emerging organizational roles, the risks of over-automation, and the growing importance of preserving discernment, judgment, and expertise in AI-enabled environments.
