Attend Learning LeadershipHow do you diagnose and address resistance as a leadership challenge?
Most transformation efforts don’t fail because of poor strategy, they fail because of unaddressed resistance. For learning leaders, the default response is often more training, more communication, or more content. But resistance is rarely a knowledge gap. It is driven by deeper forces: loss of control, threats to identity, misaligned incentives, and lack of confidence. This session addresses a critical leadership challenge: how to move beyond training as the solution and instead diagnose and influence the behavioral and systemic drivers of resistance.
Designed as a Leadership Exchange, this session is highly interactive and grounded in real-world application. Participants will begin with a live diagnostic exercise, mapping a current transformation challenge within their organization. Through small-group discussions, they will unpack root causes of resistance, exploring dynamics such as power, fear, and competing priorities.
The session introduces a practical “Resistance Equation” framework, which participants will immediately apply through peer coaching, workshopping real scenarios and sharing strategies across the group.
Participants will leave with:
- A clear, actionable model to diagnose resistance across control, competence, incentives, and identity
- Strategies to shift from training-based solutions to behavior and system-level interventions
- Practical approaches to align field leadership with enterprise strategy, reducing friction and fragmentation
- Tactics to build ownership-driven cultures rather than compliance-driven environments
This session creates space for honest, peer-level dialogue around a common but often unspoken reality:
the biggest barriers to change aren’t learning gaps: they’re human dynamics.
