508: The AI Vision Gap: Why Leaders Must Make the Future of Work Worth Following

November 3, 2026 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Most organizations are selling AI as the inevitable future: cheaper, more efficient, unavoidable. Leaders are talking more than ever about using AI and surprisingly little about the future they are asking people to join. Employees are left wondering where they still have control, voice, or certainty. Essentially, where they matter. Unlike other technological advances, AI is changing the story they tell themselves about their value. That kind of change isn't driven by a directive based in necessity alone.
In this session, leaders will learn how to move beyond urgency, efficiency, and “get on board” messaging to create a vision people can actually see themselves in. They will explore how to make AI adoption feel less imposed and more participatory, how to create room for curiosity before compliance, and how to turn anxiety into agency by making the future of work tangible, human, and worth shaping.

During this session, you will learn:
  • Recognize why AI adoption fails when leaders create urgency without vision.
  • Identify the hidden human questions employees are asking when AI changes the work, including questions of value, identity, control, and agency.
  • Challenge “get on board” messaging and other thought-terminating clichés that shut down curiosity and participation.
  • Learn how to cast an AI vision people can see themselves in, one that is clear, human, participatory, and worth joining.
